This position is for our Osborn business located in Richmond, IN.


Essential Duties &Responsibilities:

Test & Analysis - assist in conducting environmental, operational or performance tests on foam, vinyl/leather and shell systems or sub-systems which may include electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic components and/or experimental products.  Collect data from a variety of test transducer types (load cells, LVDTs, strain gages, color meters, CMM, etc.).  Resolve any issues that may arise including product or system malfunction, data collection, incomplete test data, and data interpretation. Prepare technical reports for use by engineering, quality assurance, sales, etc. to document the results of a test.  Interns may also interact with external customers regarding testing, results, and analyses.

Design work as part of our engineering organization within a product group (Static or Suspension Seating). Assist in product design and development for new and existing seating systems; including CAD part/drawing creation and modification (Pro/E or Creo), tolerance analysis of critical design features, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, cross functional design reviews, prototype builds, delivery of product samples to customers, development of assembly instructions, after build reviews, coordination of design verification and production validation testing, and root cause issues analysis.


Position Requirements:

Engineering student currently enrolled in an accredited university undergraduate program. Mechanical, electrical chemical or automotive engineering focus preferred. Completion of sophomore status and standard academic classes in Math, English, and Business. Must have 2.9 GPA or higher. This position requires strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact with people at all levels of responsibility; willingness to learn and take on routine, non-routine and project job responsibilities. Strong team player and contributor required.

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, electrical chemical or automotive engineering focus preferred
  • Part-time hours will be based on class load
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to work onsite and have reliable transportation
